The Basics of Roullete

Roullete

The Game

Roullete is a casino game where players place bets on specific numbers, or groups of numbers. The odds are based on the chances of a number winning, as well as the probability of the numbers appearing in either red or black, and whether they are high (19-36) or low (1-18).

It is a game that can be played by all ages and abilities. However, if you want to play roulette with money, it is important that you know the rules of the game and the table limits. The minimum and maximum bets are often set by the casino, and you should always try to match them with your bankroll.

The Wheel

A roulette wheel has divisions numbered from 1 to 36 in a seemingly random pattern, with red and black divisions and an additional green one marked 0. American games usually have two extra green ones marked 00. This increases the house edge, which can range from 2.63 percent to 7.89 percent for an average player.

The Rules

The rules of roulette vary depending on the type of roulette you are playing, but they are generally similar in most cases. Before you start betting, you should lay down your chips on the betting mat and tell the dealer how much each chip is worth. The dealer will then mark the value on a small symbol called a “buck” or “puck” and then parcel out your chips.

You can also place outside bets, which are on the same table as inside bets. These bets are only valid if the zero lands on the board and in French roulette, there are special rules that allow you to predict which of the two zeros will pair up on the same line.

There are also special announced bets, such as ‘Neighbours’ where you can place bets on entire sections of the wheel. These bets are only available in some European versions and you should check out the table rules before placing a bet.

Another bet is ‘Le Tiers du Cylindre’, which covers 12 different numbers on the wheel. This bet pays out 392 chips in a straight-up bet, and it can be placed in any roulette table.

‘Neighbours’ and ‘Le Tiers du Cylindre’ are both played on the same wheel but in different sections, with the neighbouring pockets changing in size. This is the most popular form of roulette betting and the one you will most likely see if you choose to play at an online casino.

Other common bets include ‘Pair’ and ‘Manque’, which pay out 6 to 1 when the corresponding numbers on the wheel come up together. These bets are also referred to as the ‘French’ bets and can be placed in most roulette tables.
