Luis Gutierrez

Art of Democracy: "Current Events" a new exhibit featuring acrylic works on paper by Luis Gutierrez, with photographs by Terri Garland and Deborah Mills Thackery, and introducing works by painter Mark Bryan (who will have a subsequent show).

The ArtObjectGallery announces the opening of a thought provoking new exhibit featuring Los Gatos artist Luis Gutierrez's most recent Wounded Warrior series of paintings titled "PTSD" (post traumatic stress disorder disorder).

These powerful portraits reveal Luis's sense of what lies beneath the surface of those who are ordered into the hell that is war. Luis channels his frustration at the largely unseen, but heartbreaking real costs of war into expressive brush strokes and richly textured surfaces of these inner profiles.

Luis Guitierrez received his M.F.A. from the Institute Allende in Mexico. He has had numerous solo and group shows, including a recent solo exhibition (2007) at the Triton Museum, Santa Clara, CA. His works have been published in several journals, including Mexican American Artists, University of Texas Press.
