Art Surge II is the sequel to Art Surge: Artists Against War. (See web site at A dozen painters, printmakers, sculptors, and photographers have created powerful works condemning the "War on Terror", the erosion of civil liberties, and the effects of the failure of our democratic institutions at home and abroad.

Participants include Steve Chappell, Lester Dore, Michael Duffy, Patrick JB Flynn, Highflyer #13, Eric Hagstrom, John Hitchcock, Sam Johnson, Mike Konopacki, Colm McCarthy, Andrea Sammarai-Zeitko and Jackson Tiffany.

They believe that a war on terror is an oxymoron. They believe that political art can be deeper than propaganda, emotional as well as intellectual, funny as well as tragic, and that content is as important as form.

On September 20 2008, a public screenprinting action will be led by University of Wisconsin Associate Professor John Hitchock. Members of the public are invited to get "hands on" experience making screenprinted posters designed by the participating artists for the Art Of Democracy. This event will take place from 10am - 5 pm at the Social Justice Center.
